U.S. Commission on Civil Rights for the USVI

Serving on the US Commission on Civil Rights for the US Virgin Islands provides a unique opportunity for me as an elected official to actively contribute to the advancement of constitutional and civil rights.

The Advisory Committees play a crucial role in this endeavour, as they have recently undertaken comprehensive examinations of various pressing issues such as water affordability, school discipline disparities, policing practices, mental health and the criminal justice system, legal financial obligations, fair housing, hate crimes, voting rights, maternal health, and solitary confinement.

The reports generated by these Advisory Committees not only advise the Commission but also have a significant impact on policy changes at the national, state, and local levels, thereby fostering a more equitable and just society for all. It is vital that this remains a bipartisan committee and that Republican input is heard.
